SUARA NEGERI | JAKARTA — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to make a special visit to Jakarta on Friday, March 27, 2026.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office, PM Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Indonesia is at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
"Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister, will make a Special Visit to Jakarta on March 27, 2026, at the invitation of Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia," the report stated.
The two leaders will reportedly discuss the increasingly heated geopolitical escalation, particularly the conflict in West Asia and its impact on the economies of both countries.
"This visit aims to discuss the latest, increasingly heated geopolitical developments, particularly the conflict in West Asia, which have a direct impact on regional stability and the global economy, including its implications for Malaysia and Indonesia," the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office explained.
This situation is considered to require a more measured, joint response. Indonesia and Malaysia are deemed necessary to coordinate strategic steps to anticipate further impacts that could potentially disrupt regional stability.
Furthermore, the two leaders are also expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and maintain the sustainability of global trade, which is currently under pressure.
