Siti Hediati Inaugurates General Soeharto Monument in Sukoharjo
SUARA NEGERI ■ Major General Primadi Saiful Sulun, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division of the Indonesian Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad), along with Mrs. Siti Hediati Soeharto, representing the extended family, inaugurated the Monument to General (Ret.) H. M. Soeharto at the 6th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Kostrad, Sukoharjo, on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
The event was attended by officials from the 2nd Infantry Division of Kostrad, members of the Surakarta Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), community leaders, and invited guests.
The event took place in an atmosphere of solemnity, pride, and respect for the figure known as the Father of Kostrad.
The monument, which stands majestically in the courtyard of the 6th Infantry Brigade, is not merely a physical structure, but also a symbol of respect and an eternal reminder of General H. M. Soeharto's service and dedication to the nation and state.
The Commander of the 2nd Kostrad Division emphasized that this monument serves as a historical marker and a source of inspiration for every soldier to maintain their identity as a formidable, disciplined force loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
History records Suharto's crucial role in the Indonesian nation's journey, including his leadership in the General Offensive of March 1, 1949, which became a milestone in the national struggle.
Suharto's visionary, decisive, and strategic leadership is considered to have formed the foundation of the doctrine and character of Kostrad soldiers: loyalty, professionalism, and selfless service.
In his remarks, the Commander of the 2nd Kostrad Division stated that the inauguration of this monument is a momentum to rekindle the soldiers' fighting spirit.
"Every generation has its own challenges, and our duty is to respond to the challenges of the times with integrity, professionalism, and boundless dedication," he said.
With the establishment of this monument, it is hoped that a stronger sense of pride, motivation, and fighting spirit will grow among all soldiers of the 6th Brigade and the 2nd Kostrad Division.
This monument serves as a reminder that Kostrad soldiers must always be ready to deploy anytime and anywhere, adhere to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, and provide the best service to the nation and state. (*)
