Indonesia Officially Named Deputy Commander of the Gaza Stabilization Force
SUARA NEGERI ■ Indonesia was officially appointed Deputy Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) or Gaza Stabilization Force at the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) meeting in Washington, DC, on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
The announcement of Indonesia's appointment was made directly by the ISF Commander, Major General Jasper Jeffers.
In his presentation, Jasper explained that Indonesia had accepted the offer of the position of Deputy Commander in the ISF.
"I want to announce that I have offered, and Indonesia has accepted, the position of Deputy Commander for the ISF. With these initial steps, we will help provide the security Gaza needs for future prosperity and lasting peace," Jasper said.
He emphasized that the ISF will focus on stabilizing the situation so that the civil government in Gaza can function effectively.
The force's mandate is not for confrontation, but rather for monitoring the ceasefire and ensuring security stability as a foundation for reconstruction.
As part of its concrete contribution, Indonesia will deploy 8,000 Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel to participate in the ISF mission.
The deployed troops will carry out non-combat tasks, including humanitarian and medical missions, as well as support for infrastructure reconstruction.
At the BoP forum, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia's involvement in the Board of Peace is driven by a sincere commitment to peace.
"Indonesia fully agrees with and is fully committed to this plan. That is why we joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success. We know there will be many obstacles and difficulties, but we are very optimistic," Prabowo emphasized.(*)
