Analyst Says Arrests of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa Ease Pressure on Jokowi

SUARA NEGERI | JAKARTA — Former President Joko Widodo's political maneuvering and planned public outreach activities could face fewer obstacles following the arrests of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifauzia Tyassuma, according to political analyst Erizal, who argued that both figures had become persistent critics capable of shaping public opinion against Jokowi.

Previously, Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma have become like sharp stones in the shoes of former President Jokowi and his volunteers, as they continue to run to maintain and pursue power.

This was stated by ABC Research & Consulting Director Erizal, quoted on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

"Let alone running, even walking will be difficult if Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa continue to appear in the media developing opinions," Erizal said.

Meanwhile, according to Erizal, Rismon Sianipar is no longer worth considering. Even if Rismon now joins Jokowi's defense, it will be meaningless before he can prove the authenticity of his Master's and Doctoral degrees in Yamaguchi, Japan.

"Therefore, the arrests of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa are worthy of celebration by Jokowi's supporters," Erizal said.

Especially after finally seeing Doctor Tifa being pushed in a wheelchair during a medical examination, and Roy Suryo's blank stare as he was taken to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention cell.

"In my opinion, Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa have indeed fallen," said Erizal.

Erizal continued, explaining that Jokowi's plans to visit people across Indonesia were also significantly helped by the arrests of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa.

"Speaking of which, when will Jokowi's visits begin? They say it's in June. But June will be over, and there's no news yet about Jokowi's first visit. They say it's either Lampung, West Java, or East Nusa Tenggara. Just wait and see," Erizal concluded. (Robert Paiman)
