East Jakarta Strengthens Coordination to Prevent Further Clashes

SUARA NEGERI ■ JAKARTA — East Jakarta authorities have stepped up coordination with local communities and government agencies to prevent further clashes following recent unrest in border areas of the municipality.

Deputy Mayor Kusmanto instructed local officials, including the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), district administrations, and village authorities, to work closely with neighborhood leaders to reduce the risk of renewed violence.

"We expect strong coordination to prevent residents from being provoked and to keep East Jakarta safe and orderly," Kusmanto said during a weekly civil servants' assembly on Monday.

He also urged residents to use community WhatsApp groups to circulate verified information and counter misinformation and provocative content that could escalate tensions.

In addition to security measures, Kusmanto called on government agencies to improve public services, including infrastructure maintenance, healthcare, education, and traffic management at congestion hotspots. (Jamil)
