The Government Must Strengthen National Oil Reserves

SUARA NEGERI | JAKARTA — House Commission XII member Yulian Gunhar stated that the government needs to increase reserves to anticipate possible supply disruptions due to global geopolitical dynamics.

"The government must immediately strengthen national fuel reserves. Currently, national fuel stocks are estimated to be sufficient for the next 20 to 23 days," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (March 8).

Furthermore, Yulian continued, the government must also ensure smooth domestic fuel distribution by prioritizing supplies to crucial points, including areas along coal distribution routes to coal-fired power plants (PLTU).

According to Gunhar, cross-sector coordination between regional governments, Pertamina, and security forces is deemed necessary to ensure the smooth distribution of fuel and coal from fuel terminals and ports to coal-fired power plants (PLTU).

He emphasized that energy security must be maintained together, especially in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.

"So that coal-fired power plants (PLTU) continue to operate and electricity supplies for the community remain secure," Gunhar concluded. (*)
