Police Prepare Security for Protest at Deutsche Bank Office in Central Jakarta

JAKARTA, SuaraNegeri.co.id — Police in Central Jakarta prepared security measures on Wednesday for a planned protest outside the PT Position/Deutsche Bank office on Jalan MH Imam Bonjol, Menteng, involving around 20 people, police said.

Ten personnel, including four officers from the Menteng police precinct and six security officers, were deployed to monitor the demonstration by the Kajian Akademik dan Jaringan Intelektual group.

Police instructed personnel to maintain communication with protesters, exercise restraint and prevent clashes during the demonstration.

Officers were also ordered to monitor the area for prohibited items and potential disturbances, including the burning of tyres.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung said officers had been instructed to facilitate the right to peaceful assembly while maintaining public order.

"The right to express opinions is part of the public's rights and must be facilitated while maintaining security and public order," Hutagalung said.

He said officers were required to follow operational procedures and were not to carry or use firearms or bladed weapons while providing security for the protest.

Police said they would coordinate with private security personnel and protest coordinators to prevent disruptions and ensure the demonstration remained orderly.(Janne Sinten)
