Mayor's Cup Table Tennis Tournament Unites East Jakarta Residents and Civil Servants
SUARA NEGERI ■ JAKARTA — The Mayor of East Jakarta, Munjirin, inspected the Mayor's Cup Table Tennis Tournament for Civil Servants (ASN) and the general public in the U-15 category at Grand Cakung Mall on Jalan Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono, Ujung Menteng Village, Cakung District, on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
The table tennis tournament was part of a series of activities to celebrate Jakarta's 499th anniversary. It also served as a means of fostering sports and strengthening ties between the government and the community.
Also present at the event were Rizal Simanjuntak, Chairman of the East Jakarta KONI (Indonesian Sports Committee), Agus Salim, Chairman of the East Jakarta Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PTMSI), Alex Kartasa, Owner of Grand Cakung Mall, and Husein Murad, President Commissioner of Grand Cakung Mall.
Husein Murad, President Commissioner of Grand Cakung Mall, expressed his appreciation to the East Jakarta Government for organizing the tournament. According to him, sports activities like this have a positive impact not only on public health but also on strengthening social ties.
He considered the tournament an effective platform for strengthening ties between the community and the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the East Jakarta City Government.
"This tournament is not just a sporting competition, but also a means of strengthening the bond between the community and the ASN. Furthermore, holding the event at the shopping center also has a positive impact on economic activity and increases public visits to Grand Cakung Mall," he said.
Husein added that Grand Cakung Mall's strategic position as one of the gateways to East Jakarta makes it a suitable location for various community activities, from exhibitions and competitions to various other social events.
He hopes that the synergy between the East Jakarta City Government and the shopping center management can continue through various programs that involve the wider community.
"We are open to various community activities. Hopefully, this collaboration will continue and have a positive impact on the economic development of the community in East Jakarta," he concluded. (hs/)
